Scared. Blessed. Proud.

Izaria WhiteIzaria White recently graduated from Provine High School in Jackson, Mississippi in May 2017. She plans to attend Hinds Community College, in the fall, where she will major in Business. Izaria was originally attracted to the ACT-SO program because she saw it as an opportunity to pursue her thespian dreams and meet new people who share the same passion as her. She competed at the 2017 local Jackson City ACT-SO branch competition in the Drama category and received a gold medal for her piece, The Good Mother.

Due to her accomplishments at the local competition, Izaria has advanced to compete at the national competition in Baltimore, Maryland this upcoming July!

Scared, blessed and proud. Izaria feels a bit fearful going into the national ACT-SO competition because she has to fly to Baltimore, and she has never ridden on a plane before. Thus, she is anxious about this new experience. She also feels blessed because she finally has the opportunity to showcase the talents, with which God has blessed her, to the world. Lastly, Izaria feels proud because she is taking the initiative to put herself first and pursue her long-awaited dream.

Nerves & Excitement

Izaria is most nervous about the competition as a whole. She believes that she is a good actress; however, she also knows that there are many other students around the country who are just as talented, if not more talented than her, in the field of drama. Despite her anxieties, Izaria is looking forward to meeting and learning from new people who have the same passion for drama as she does. She hopes to gain more confidence in displaying her talents to the public and overcome her nerves. She also believes that this competition will confirm that performing in drama is her true calling.

“If you know that you’re good at something, and you have the chance to show it off, go for it! You never know how it may change your life.” – Izaria White

We wish you the best of luck, Izaria, in the 2017 national ACT-SO competition!
